Rabbi's Message: Hanukkah

Hanukkah means "dedication." It celebrates the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem in the 2nd century BCE after it had been desecrated by the Seleucids. And in our time, it can also be an opportunity to (re)dedicate ourselves to the sacred work we do.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday at our Annual Meeting as we express our gratitude for the dedication of our incredible outgoing board members and elect leaders who are dedicated to strengthening the future of this sacred community.

We are blessed to have a dedicated group of lay leaders who are exploring new service times and formats in 2019. And in January we will also have the opportunity to rededicate ourselves to lifelong learning, as we expand our educational offerings for adults, kids, and families.

I want to personally thank you for inspiring me as I dedicate myself to this community, and look forward to doing so in the years to come. Each and every one of us bring light and strength to one another, and when we join together, the future of our community is very bright. Happy Hanukkah.
